Grotta della Ficarella

The Grotta della Ficarella is named after the fig tree that once grew on its summit. It is famous for the strong smell inside, due to the presence of specimens of the Storm Bird (Hydrobates pelagicus), a bird the size of a sparrow, known to locals as bellimaricchio or bellimanicchio and protected by the institution of the Nature Reserve and Site of Community Importance (SCI).
