Path 3: Chiano Sterna - S. Caterina Castle
About halfway along the path that leads to the Cross, the path that goes through the "Chiana Sterna" arrives at the Castle of S. Caterina. This alternative path to the main one consists mostly of stairs, is characterized by a well-marked path in the terrain that alternates steep climbs in parts in the plain.
In about 15min you reach the "Chiana Sterna" which takes its name from the presence of the cistern ("sterna") of water in this plain ("chiana") at the foot of the Castle. Here there is a reforestation work of the Forest with benches where you can refresh and enjoy the view of Favignana and Levanzo. Continuing you arrive in about 25min to the Castle this time from the west with a view of Marettimo.
