Punta Marsala
The Punta Marsala area includes several inlets, both rocky and sandy, including the famous Cala Azzurra, one of Favignana's most spectacular coves. It is easily reached from the village by car, bike or scooter and is connected by an asphalt road to the lighthouse of the same name. From this point onwards, the path becomes unpaved and it is advisable to continue on foot.
The Punta Marsala Lighthouse
This is an electric signalling lighthouse, used as a maritime reference for mariners, visible up to a distance of 15 mn and activated in 1859 while Giovanni Nicotera was a prisoner in the Castle of San Giacomo. The tower is cylindrical and 14m high and is leaning against a 2-storey building.
