Grotta del Cammello

The Grotta del Cammello is one of the most famous sea caves on the island of Marettimo. It takes its name from a rock that emerges near its opening and is shaped like a large camel. The best time to visit this cave is at midday, when the sun penetrates through the circular opening in the vault, creating reflections and plays of light. Inside, the sea is blue and crystal clear. There are three small sand and gravel beaches, where in the past the monk seal probably found shelter in the winter season to give birth and care for its young.
