Path 5: Cala Fredda - Cala Minnola - Cala Calcara
From the port, heading east, you meet, just out of the country and passed the small cemetery, the large Cala Fredda, with a small beach of large white pebbles, and, just ahead an old warehouse of Florio, with a convenient slide for swimming. On the left, the lush pine forest of Pino d'Aleppo, managed by the Forest, convenient for a stop in the shade. Beyond the dirt road, which continues on the left, uphill, up to the houses Florio, a path on the right takes the line of the coast to reach the beautiful small cove of Cala Minnola, with large flat rocks that slope down to the turquoise sea and with a slide previously used by fishermen to pull the boats dry.
After a bath in Cala Minnola, you enter the green pine forest, following a path well marked by wooden signs. Climb for about 20 minutes, partly in the shade and cool, until you reach the coast above Cala Calcara to admire the breathtaking view of the east coast of the island. Cala Calcara is the best shelter of Mistral as Cala Fredda is for the Grecale.
Typical vegetation: Aleppo pine, Euphorbia dendroides, mastic, caper, oleaster, prickly pear, agave.
